1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor, by Warrant under his hand, from time to
time, to appoint Polling Places for each Electoral
District within or without the limits thereof, and to
appoint any one of such places to be the principal
Polling Place for the District, and all or any of such
Polling Places at any time to abolish, and to appoint
other Polling Places in lieu thereof. And whereas by
another Act of the General Assembly, intituled "The
Provincial Elections Act, 1858," it is enacted that,
subject to certain provisions therein contained, every
election of the Superintendent or of a Member of the
Provincial Council of a Province shall be conducted in
the manner prescribed by "The Regulation of Elections
Act, 1858," aforesaid, and all the provisions of the
said last mentioned Act shall apply to the Elections of
Superintendents and Members of Provincial Councils.

Now know ye, that I, SIR GEORGE GREY, the
Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Acts, do
hereby appoint the following place to be a Polling
Place for the Election of Superintendents of the Pro-
vince of Otago, and Members of the Provincial Council
for the District of Dunedin, namely,

The School-house, North Dunedin.

Given under my hand, at Government House,
at Wellington, this fourth day of March,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency, Sir George Grey, Knight
Commander of the most honorable Order
of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of
New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by the "Wild Birds' Protection Act,
1864," it is enacted that the second section of
the said Act shall have no force or effect except in
such portions of the Colony as shall from time to
time be proclaimed by the Governor to come within
the operation of such section.

Now therefore I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the
Province of Otago to be within the operation of the
second section of the above recited Act.

Given under my hand, at the Government
House at Wellington, and issued under
the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand,
this fourth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five.

SUBSCRIPTIONS will be at the rate of Β£1 per
annum, or 5s. per quarter, payable in advance to the
Publisher. Single copies of the Gazette not to exceed
6d. Subscriptions can commence at any time, but
must terminate not later than 31st December, 1865.

PRIVATE ADVERTISEMENTS will be charged at
the rate of 6d. per line. Late Advertisements, 1s.

THE GAZETTE is published every Wednesday
morning, and Notices for Insertion must be received
at the Superintendent's Office not later than 2 o'clock
p.m. on the Tuesday preceding. Advertisements re-
ceived after that hour will be charged 1s. per line.
Any irregularity in the receipt of those Gazettes
which are given gratis by the Government should be
reported at once to the Provincial Secretary.
