NOTICE is hereby given that the above-named Petitioner, Alexander Williamson, on the 20th day of February instant, with the concurrence of Messieurs M’Landress, Hepburn and Co., Dunedin, Auctioneers, creditors of the said Alexander Williamson to the extent of not less than fifty pounds, presented and filed his Petition for the sequestration of his estate for the benefit of all his creditors, and for relief according to the provisions of the "Debtors and Creditors Act, 1862": And that the said Petition has been accepted by His Honor Mr. Justice Chapman, who has appointed Saturday, the eighteenth day of March, 1865, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, at the Supreme Court House, Dunedin, for the hearing of the said Petition, at which time and place all parties concerned are to attend.

SIR,—With reference to your letter of the 21st inst., containing a recommendation from the Lords of the Committee of the Privy Council for Trade, that the "New Commercial Code of Signals" should be used at a new Signal Station in Mauritius, in preference to Marryat’s Flags, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Cardwell to ask, whether their Lordships would think it advisable to recommend the Colonial Governments generally to use the Code of Signals? and, if so, in what terms the instructions or recommendations should be sent to them?
