PROCLAMATION.
Molyneux Road District abolished, and Port Molyneux, Puerua, Otanomomo, and Finegand Road Districts formed.
By His Honor John Hyde Harris, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the βRoads Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1862,β it is among other things enacted in the 12th section thereof, that for the purposes of the said Ordinance the said Province except as is therein excepted, may, from time to time, be divided into districts; and until otherwise provided pursuant to the provisions of the said Ordinance, there shall be twenty-five districts, which shall be named and bounded as described in the Schedule to the said Ordinance annexed; and it is also in the said 12th section provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Road Board, from time to time to alter, vary, diminish, or enlarge the boundaries of any or all of such districts, and to increase the number of districts, by forming and naming new districts, or by dividing any district into two or more districts.
And whereas in the said Schedule, the Molyneux Road District, therein named, is described as comprising all that area bounded on the north by the Trunk Road; on the south, by the boundary of the Hundreds and on the west, by the Puerua River and a continuation of that straight line having Blocks XXXI., XXXII., and XXXIV., stretching from the Puerua River to the Trunk Road.
And whereas it is expedient to abolish the said Molyneux Road District and to form in lieu thereof four new Road Districts, to be called respectively, the Port Molyneux, Puerua, Otanomomo, and Finegand Road Districts.
Now, therefore I, John Hyde Harris, Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice and consent of the Otago General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said Molyneux Road District shall, from the day of the date hereof, be abolished, and in lieu thereof there shall be four new Road Districts, that is to say, the Port Molyneux, Puerua, Otanomomo and Finegand Road Districts, and that:
The Port Molyneux Road District shall comprise all that area bounded on the north-west by the Omaru River, on the south-west by the south-west boundary of the East Clutha Hundred; on the south-east by the Kororo Creek, on east by the Native Reserve, the Ocean, and the River Clutha; and on the north-east by the Puerua. And that
The Puerua Road District shall comprise all that area bounded on the north by the Puerua and section 8, block XXV, and section 7, block XXX, Clutha Survey District; on the west by sections 6, 4, and 2, block XXX, Clutha Survey District, and a continuation of the same line to the crossing of the Puerua; thence, on the north-west by the Puerua to the boundary of the hundred; on the south-west by the south-west boundary of the East Clutha Hundred; and on the south-east by the River Omaru. And that
The Otanomomo Road District shall comprise all that area bounded on the north-east and north by the Waitapeka; on the north-west and west by the Main Road from Balclutha to Port Molyneux; on the south by section 5, block XXX, and section 6, block XXV, Clutha Survey District, and by the River Puerua. And that
The Finegand Road District shall comprise all that area bounded on the north and west by the Main Road from Balclutha to Port Molyneux.
