APPOINTMENTS TO BE MADE.

ASSISTANT Engineer, accustomed to Railway Surveying and levelling. Apply at the office of the Road Engineer.

ENGINEERING Draughtsmen. Apply as above.

TWO Temporary Draughtsmen for the Road Department. Apply as above, on Friday 4th March, from 10 to noon.

AN Inspector, who will also act as foreman of Masons in the Dunstan District. For qualifications and rate of salary, apply at Road Office. Applications to be lodged at the office of the Secretary of Public Works, on or before Monday the 7th March.


NOTICE.

Depasturing Leases of Land within the Tuapeka Goldfield.

NOTICE is hereby given that His Honor the Superintendent has directed that the blocks of land, hereinafter mentioned, and situate in the neighbourhood of the Tuapeka Goldfield, shall be let on lease for depasturing purposes. The blocks of land are as follows:

Block 1, containing about 7200 acres.

" 2, " 7000 "

" 3, " 13800 "

" 3A, " 4200 "

" 4, " 8000 "

The leases will be for a term of one year and so on from year to year, but subject to a condition for the determination thereof.

Full particulars of the boundaries and situation of the lands, and of the terms and conditions on which they will be let, may be obtained at this office.

The Leases will be disposed of to the highest bidder at a public auction, to be held by Messrs. Gillies and Street, at their auction rooms, Dunedin, on the 5th day of April next, at 12 o'clock.

The conditions of sale may be obtained at this office, and from the auctioneer at their auction room.

GREEN ISLAND DISTRICT ROAD RATE.

THE General Road Board having issued a precept for the payment of the District Road Rate recently authorised to be levied over the Green Island District to the undersigned collector of the said rate,

Notice is hereby given to the Ratepayers under the Road Ordinance, 1856, within the said Green Island District, that the said rate is now payable to the undersigned at his house, and that payment thereof must be made within thirty days from the date hereof, under penalty in case of failure so to pay of proceedings being taken for recovery under said Ordinance.

THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

Subscriptions will be at the rate of £1 per annum, or 5s. per quarter, payable in advance to the publisher. Single copies of the Gazette not to exceed 6d. Subscriptions can commence at any time, but must terminate not later than 31st December.

Private Advertisements will be charged by the Publisher at the rate of 6s. 6d. for every inch or fraction of an inch.

The Gazette is published every Wednesday morning and Notices for insertion must be received at the Superintendent’s Office not later than 10 o’clock on the Tuesday preceding.
