PROCLAMATION

Extending the Limits of the Dunstan Goldfield, within the Province of Otago.

By the Honorable John Hyde Harris,
Superintendent of the said Province.

WHEREAS it is desirable to alter and extend the limits of the Dunstan Goldfield, in the Province of Otago.

Now, Therefore, I, John Hyde Harris, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers delegated to and vested in me by His Excellency the Governor under and by virtue of “The Goldfields Act, 1862,” do hereby Proclaim and Declare that all that territory hereinafter described shall henceforth be included within and form part of the Dunstan Goldfield under the provisions of the said Act, that is to say: All that area, situate in the Province of Otago, bounded towards the north-west by a line extending in a north-easterly direction from the existing Dunstan Goldfield to Mount St. Bathans, thence towards the south and west by the boundary of the existing Dunstan Goldfield to the starting point.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twenty-second day of February, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-Four.

PORT CHALMERS TOWN BOARD ELECTION.

IN pursuance of the provisions of the Port Chalmers and Invercargill Town Board Ordinance, 1859, I, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint Thursday, the 3rd day of March next, at twelve o’clock noon, as the day and time for the holding of an election of five members of the Town Board of Port Chalmers, in place of

THOMAS BREBNER,
JAMES LEES,
ANDREW WILSON,
THOMAS TAYLER,
JOSEPH MORRIS,

whose seats have become vacant, and I do appoint the Court House at Port Chalmers as the place for the holding of the said election: and I do appoint the said time and place as the time and place for the assembling of the persons entitled to vote at the said election; and I do appoint Friday, the 4th day of March next, as the day on which the poll shall be taken, if a poll be demanded, and that the said poll shall be taken at the said Court House; and I do hereby appoint Mr. WILLIAM REID, schoolmaster, Port Chalmers, Returning Officer, to preside at the meeting held for the said elections.
