Appointment of Postmasters.

General Post Office,
Auckland, 7th October 1863.

IN virtue of the powers delegated to me by His Excellency the Governor, the following appointments have been made in the Postal Service of the Colony.

Reader Gilson Wood.


Province of Otago.

Emanuel Thompson to be Postmaster at Glenore, from the 1st July 1863.

John Anderson to be Postmaster at Caversham, from the 21st July 1863.

Campbell Thompson to be Postmaster at Deep Stream, from the 21st July 1863.

Charles Lemon to be Postmaster at Oamaru, from the 1st August 1863.

Robert Kidd to be Postmaster at Albertown (Otago), from the 20th August 1863.

Charles Vincent Brewer to be Postmaster at Moolyneux, from the 1st August 1863.

John Barr to be Postmaster at Clutha Ferry, from the 17th August 1863.

Harry Wakelin Pilley Smith to be Postmaster at Mount Ida, from the 20th August 1863.

James Galbraith to be Postmaster at Green Island, from the 5th September 1863.

Andrew Souter to be Postmaster at Kye Burn, from the 16th September 1863.


Cancellation of the Appointment of;

Thomas Cook Irving as Pilot.

General Post Office,

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to cancel the Pilot’s Licence issued to Thomas Cook Irving, of Otago.

THE BANK OF OTAGO, LIMITED.

NOTICE is hereby given, that application is intended to be made to the General Assembly, at the ensuing Session thereof, to leave to bring in a Bill, to be intituled, “An Act to incorporate the Shareholders of a certain Banking Company, called “The Bank of Otago, Limited,” and to enable the said Company to carry on its Business and issue Promissory Notes in New Zealand,” and that the objects of such Bill will be to incorporate the Shareholders of the said Company by the name of “The Bank of Otago, Limited,” with perpetual succession, and a common seal; to enable the said Company to sue and be sued in their said corporate name, to issue Promissory Notes in New Zealand, payable to bearer on demand, and to carry on, by means of a head office and branches, in any part of the said Colony of New Zealand, the different kinds of Banking and other Business specified in the Memorandum of Association of the said Company, bearing date the twenty-fourth day of April, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

And notice is hereby further given that copies of the said Bill will be deposited in the Private Bill Office, within fourteen days from the commencement of the Session.

Tenders for the Erection of Seven Toll-Houses and Gates. To be lodged by noon of 24th November.

Tenders for the Erection of the Exhibition Building in Dunedin. To be lodged by noon of 26th November.

Tenders for the Supply, Delivery, Erection, and Maintenance of Telegraph Posts. To be lodged by noon of 1st December.

Tenders for the erection of a bridge over Tokomairiro River. To be lodged by noon of 24th November.

A Meeting to be held in Portobello Schoolhouse, on Thursday, 26th November, at 2 o’clock, for the purpose of forming an Educational District.

A Reward of Ten Pounds to be paid on conviction of any person found throwing ashes or rubbish advanced from steamers or other vessels into the Otago Harbour.

A Gelding to be sold at North Dunedin Pound, on 21st November, at noon.

Tenders for the Erection of a Bridge over Waipori River to be lodged by noon on 24th November.

A Black Horse to be sold at the Pound on 18th November, 1863.

TENDERS

TENDERS will be received at this Office till the 24th instant from persons willing to contract to carry mails between the Post Office, Oamaru, and Waiareka River weekly each way, from the 1st January next for the Provincial Government.

Tenders to be addressed “Tenders for delivery of Mails” and arrive by the Postmaster, and must state the amount of payment required for the service and the time within which the advertiser from this Office, headed “Tenders for Conveyance of Mails.”
