PROCLAMATION,

Admitting Cattle into the Province of Otago from a portion of the County of Mornington in the Colony of Victoria.

By the Honorable John Hyde Harris,
Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

JOHN HYDE HARRIS, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby Proclaim and Declare that from and after the date hereof, until further notice, that portion of the County of Mornington, in the Colony of Victoria, hereinafter described, shall not be deemed an infected district within the meaning and for the purposes of the “Diseased Cattle Act, 1861.” And that I do hereby rescind the Proclamation of the Superintendent of the Province of Otago bearing date the fifth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two, so far as the same relates to the before-mentioned portion of the Colony of Victoria, that is to say,—All that area commencing at the mouth of a creek in Western Port Bay, said creek forming part of the west side of portion 2, parish of Yallock; thence by that creek northerly to the south side of the Koo-we-Rup Swamp; by that side of the swamp and a line north-easterly to a point on the Bunene Creek, seven miles south of the south boundary of the village of Bunene; thence southerly by part of the east boundary of the County of Mornington to Cape Paterson; thence westerly and northerly by the sea coast and the shores of Western Port Bay to the point of commencement, including likewise Phillip and French Islands.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of L.S. Otago, at Dunedin, this sixth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

STUART STREET JETTY DUES.

NOTICE is hereby given that I, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the “Jetties and Wharves Ordinance, 1858,” do hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, give notice that on and after the sixteenth day of November, 1863, dues at the rate of one shilling and threepence per ton, and no other dues, tolls, and wharfages shall be levied, for the use of the Stuart-street Jetty, Dunedin.

Such Jetty Dues shall be paid by the Master or person in charge of each ship, vessel, or boat, before loading or unloading cargo, as the case may be, and shall be charged upon the vessel carrying the same, at the rate of one shilling and threepence per ton upon her registered tonnage; provided always that in the event of any vessel not having cargo amounting to one half of her registered tonnage, such dues may be charged, at the discretion of the Jetty-keeper, upon the actual quantity of goods she may have on board at the time of her arrival at the Jetty, or before her departure, in case of loading.

Vessels under 40 tons register shall be allowed four, and vessels above that tonnage shall be allowed six, working days to load and unload at the Jetty, as the case may be; but any vessel remaining at the Jetty longer, shall be charged 10s. per day for each day or part of a day.

Goods left on the Jetty, or its approaches, for more than 24 hours, shall be charged in addition to the rates before mentioned, at the rate of 1s. per ton per diem for every working day or part of a day they may be so left.

Any person refusing or delaying to pay, or attempting in any way to evade the payment, of any of the above tolls, dues, and wharfages, shall be charged double the said rates.
