Fresh tenders for the construction of a road from Dunstan Township to the junction of the Clutha and Kawarau Rivers; to be lodged by noon of 15th September, 1863.

One mare and three horses to be sold at South Dunedin Pound; 12 noon of 16th September, 1863.

Moveable crane and weighbridge wanted; tenders to be lodged by noon of 6th October, 1863.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in consequence of the requisite notice not having been given for the sitting of the Provincial Court for the Despatch of Criminal Business, the next sitting will be adjourned to Monday, the 14th September next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, and the sitting for the Despatch of Civil Business will be adjourned to a day in December next, of which due notice will be given.

THE Collector of School Assessments for the North-East Valley District will be in attendance at the Schoolhouse there on Monday, the 7th instant, from 7 to 9 o’clock p.m., and on Wednesday, the 9th instant, from 7 to 9 o’clock p.m., to receive the payment of assessments; when all persons neglecting to pay said assessments will be summarily dealt with.

NEW ZEALAND MAIL SERVICE.

PERSONS intending to tender for the New Zealand Mail Service, in accordance with the terms of an advertisement dated General Post Office, Auckland, June 22nd, 1863, are requested to state separately in their tenders—

1st. As respects the service from Otago to Melbourne: What difference in the amount of subsidy, if any, would be required if the 17th or 18th days of the month were substituted as the date for the mail steamers leaving Port Chalmers, instead of the 16th? The difference to be stated for each of these dates.

2nd. As respects the service from Melbourne to Otago: What additional sum per diem would be required for each day’s detention of the steamer at Melbourne beyond the four days stipulated for, up to and inclusive of the 8th day, from the due date of sailing?
