MILITIA AND VOLUNTEERS.

Appointment of Captain Moss, Lieutenant Leggett, and Ensign Jackson.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Auckland, 22nd June, 1863.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the following appointments in the Dunedin Rifle Volunteers, viz.:

Frederick Joseph Moss,
to be Captain. Date of Commission, 22nd June, 1863.

Francis Charles Leggett,
to be Lieutenant. Date of Commission, 22nd June, 1863.

William George Jackson,
to be Ensign. Date of Commission, 22nd June, 1863.

James Paterson, Esq., elected a Member of the House of Representatives.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Auckland, 3rd July, 1863.

It is hereby notified that a Writ issued for the election of a Member of the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of Dunedin and Suburbs South, has been returned with a certificate to the effect that

James Paterson, Esq.,
has been duly elected.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Acts passed by the General Assembly which Her Majesty has not been advised to disallow.

The following Acts passed by the General Assembly of New Zealand, in the Session held in the twenty-sixth year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled—

"An Act to authorise the issue of Crown Grants in certain cases."

"An Act for amending the Law relating to the unlawful occupation of Demesne Lands of the Crown, and for appointing Commissioners of Crown Lands."

"An Act to provide for payment by the Colonial Treasurer to Provincial Treasuries of certain Provinces of sums paid to him under the Land Revenue Appropriation Act, 1858, for the extinguishment of Native Title to Lands in such Provinces."

"An Act to amend an Act to appropriate the Revenue arising from the disposal of the Waste Lands of the Crown in New Zealand."

"An Act to amend the ‘Militia Acts’ having been laid before the Queen in conformity with the provisions of the Constitution Act, His Excellency the Governor has been informed by the Secretary of State that Her Majesty has not been advised to disallow the same."

A PROCLAMATION.

The General Assembly of New Zealand further Prorogued.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

Whereas the General Assembly of New Zealand has been and now stands prorogued to Tuesday, the thirtieth day of June instant; and whereas it is expedient further to prorogue the same:

Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of New Zealand, do hereby further prorogue the said General Assembly till Monday, the twenty-seventh day of July, now next ensuing.

Given under my hand at the Government House, at Auckland, and issued under the Seal of the Colony this 29th day of June, 1863.
