HIGH SCHOOL, DUNEDIN.

THE High School will be opened upon Monday, the 3rd of August next, at 10 o’clock a.m.

ACTING PRINCIPAL:—George Perry Abram, Esq., M.A., late Senior Scholar and Prizeman of Clare College, Cambridge, and Second Master of the Wolverhampton Grammar School.

MATHEMATICAL MASTER:—Daniel Brent, Esq., M.A., late Senior Scholar and Prizeman of Queen’s College, Cambridge, and one of the Mathematical Masters of Tonbridge School.

The Classical, Mathematical, English, and other departments will be conducted by Messrs Abram and Brent at the outset, but such additional Masters and Assistants will be engaged from time to time, as the attendance and the requirements of the pupils may render necessary.

Every boy before being admitted a pupil of the High School, must be upwards of nine years of age, and must be able to read with ease a simple prose narrative; to write from dictation with tolerable correctness; and to work sums in the first four simple rules of arithmetic. Every pupil must learn at least one foreign language, either ancient or modern.

Rates of School Fees:—Ten pounds per annum, payable quarterly in advance. When three boys of the same family attend the school at one time, half of the fee for the third boy will be remitted; and when more than three of the same family attend at one time, the fee for three only will be charged.

The Secretary is instructed to assist parents or guardians at a distance from Dunedin, to procure information respecting suitable board and lodging for their boys whom they may wish to be in attendance at the High School.

THREE Road Surveyors Wanted. Apply immediately at the Road Office, Dunedin.
