PROCLAMATION
Extending to the Townships of Hawksbury and West Hawksbury, certain provisions of “The Town and Country Police Ordinance, 1862.”
By the Honorable John Hyde Harris, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS it is expedient that the provisions of Sections numbered 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the “Town and Country Police Ordinance, 1862,” should be extended to and be in force in the Townships of Hawksbury and West Hawksbury, in the Province of Otago;
Now, therefore, I, John Hyde Harris, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in virtue of the powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said Townships of Hawksbury and West Hawksbury shall, from and after the date hereof, come under the operation of Sections 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the “Town and Country Police Ordinance, 1862,” and I do hereby define the limits of the said Townships for the purposes of this Proclamation, and of the said Ordinance to be as follows, videlicet:
All that parcel of land in the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement nine hundred and ninety acres, more or less, situate in the Hawksbury District of the said Province, bounded towards the Northwest by the Main North Road, eleven thousand four hundred and ninety links;
towards the North by Section numbered 50, Block numbered IV., Hawksbury District, three thousand and forty-six links;
towards the East by Sections numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, Block numbered VI., Hawksbury District, eleven thousand nine hundred links;
towards the South-east by land purchased by John Jones, two thousand three hundred links;
towards the South by a Beach Reserve, and by Section numbered 7, Block VI., Hawksbury District, eight thousand links, be the same, more or less, also by the said Section numbered 7, eight hundred and fifty links, by a road line one hundred links, and by Section numbered 8, Block VI., Hawksbury District, one thousand links;
and towards the West by the remainder of Land purchased under application...
