PROCLAMATION

Extending the limits of the Dunstan Gold Field within the Province of Otago.

By the Honorable JOHN HYDE HARRIS, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province.

WHEREAS it is desirable to alter and extend the limits of the Dunstan Gold Field in the Province of Otago:

Now, therefore, I, John Hyde Harris, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers delegated to me by His Excellency the Governor, under and by virtue of the Gold Fields Act, 1858, do hereby proclaim and declare all that territory hereinafter described, situate to the north of the Dunstan Gold Field to be henceforth included within, and to form part of, the Dunstan Gold Field under the provisions of the said Act, that is to say: from the junction of the Kawarau and Kirtle Burn up the east bank of the Kirtle Burn to the first or most southern creek falling in to the Kirtle Burn; thence to the source of the said creek; thence by the Water Shed Line of the Mount Pisa Range to the source of the Park Burn; thence to its junction with the Clutha River, across the Clutha River and continuing the same line eastward for one mile to the east of the Clutha River; thence southward, keeping one mile distant from the Clutha River to the north-eastern corner of the present boundary of the said Dunstan Gold Field.

And I declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation and take effect upon and after the day of the date hereof.

Given under my hand at Dunedin, and issued under the Public Seal of the said Province the tenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
