THE following Bill, passed by the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, entitled
"Otago Representation Ordinance, 1862,"
which Bill was reserved for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon, having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency has been pleased to assent to the same.

PROCLAMATION
Altering the Limits of the Wakatipu Gold-field, within the Province of Otago.
By his Honor John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation on the sixth day of January last, in pursuance of the powers delegated to me as therein set forth, I constituted and appointed all that territory therein described to be a Gold-field, under the provisions of the "Gold Fields Act, 1858," and to be called "Wakatipu Gold-field;" And whereas it is expedient to alter the limits of the said Gold-field;
Now therefore, I, John Larkins Cheese Richardson, by virtue of the aforesaid Act and of the powers delegated to me as set forth in the Commission mentioned in the Proclamation aforesaid, do hereby revoke the said Proclamation, but in so far only as it defines the limits of the Wakatipu Gold-field, and do hereby constitute and appoint all the territory hereinafter described to be a Gold-field, under the provisions of the said Act, and to be called
"WAKATIPU GOLD FIELD,"
(that is to say) the Wakatipu Gold-field shall extend and is hereby extended over the basin of the Wakatipu, that is, over all lands drained by the feeders of the Wakatipu Lake; also over all lands drained by the northern feeders of the Kawarau, as far down as the junction of the Kirtle Burn; also over all lands drained by the western feeders of the Kirtle Burn aforesaid; also over all lands drained by the feeders of the Upper Cardrona, as far down as Boundary Creek, and including the lands drained by the southern feeders of the latter Creek. On the east it is bounded by the Nokomai Gold-field, and on the south by the Mataura River to its source.
Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, the seventeenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

AMENDED RULES AND REGULATIONS
OF THE
OTAGO GOLD FIELDS.
PROCLAMATION
By His Honor John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by warrant under the hand of His Excellency Thomas Gore Browne, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand, dated at Auckland, the eighth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, the Governor aforesaid by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Colony, and in exercise of the power and authority for that purpose in him vested, did thereby delegate absolutely and without restriction unto me, John Larkins Cheese Richardson, as Superintendent of the Province of Otago, all the powers vested in him under or by virtue of "The Gold Fields Act, 1858" except the powers contained in Sections seven, eight, fifteen, twenty-seven, and forty of the said Act, to have, hold, and exercise the powers within the Province of Otago thereby given: And whereas I, the said John Larkins Cheese Richardson, upon the twenty-seventh day of June last, in pursuance of the powers delegated to me as aforesaid, issued a Proclamation of certain Rules and Regulations: and on the twenty-first day of July, and the tenth day of October respectively following, issued Proclamations of additional Rules and Regulations: And whereas it is expedient to amend certain of the said Rules and Regulations;
Now therefore I, John Larkins Cheese Richardson, by virtue of the powers so delegated to me as aforesaid, do hereby issue the following amended Rules and Regulations.
