PROCLAMATION

Bringing “Oamaru Town Board Ordinance, 1862,” into operation.

By his Honor JOHN LARKINS CHEESE RICHARDSON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the “Oamaru Town Board Ordinance, 1862,” it is enacted that the said Ordinance shall come into force from and after such day as the Superintendent shall appoint by Proclamation to be published in the Provincial Government Gazette, which Proclamation shall also notify the time and place fixed by the Superintendent for the first meeting of the Electors for the Election of Members of the said Board;

Now therefore, I, the said John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by virtue of the said Ordinance, do hereby proclaim that the said “Oamaru Town Board Ordinance, 1862,” shall come into force on and after the date of this Proclamation, and do hereby appoint the Electors entitled to vote for Members of the Town of Oamaru in the Provincial Council of Otago, to assemble upon Thursday, the twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, at twelve o’clock noon, at the Court House, in Oamaru, for the purpose of electing the Members of the said Town Board of Oamaru. And I hereby appoint Thomas Windle Parker, Esq., of Oamaru, Returning Officer, to preside at the said meeting; and in the event of a poll being demanded, I hereby appoint the Polling to take place in the Court House aforesaid, on Friday, the twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of (L.S.) Otago, at Dunedin, this twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
