POSTAL.

Postmasters Appointed.

General Post Office,
Auckland, 25th November, 1862.

IN virtue of the powers delegated to me by His Excellency the Governor, the following appointments have been made in the service of the Colony.

READER GILSON WOOD,
For the Postmaster-General.

OTAGO.

Mrs. Oliver, to be Postmistress at East Taieri.

John Simpson, to be Postmaster at Waihola, from the 1st April, 1862.

James Scott, to be Postmaster at Waiwera, from the 1st March, 1862.

Robert Andrew Greenslade, to be Postmaster at Dunstan, from the 10th October, 1862.

A PROCLAMATION

Constituting Petty Sessional Districts.

By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY, Knight Commander of the most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by the “Petty Sessions Act 1858,” it was enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time, by notice in the New Zealand Gazette, to constitute Petty Sessional Districts in any part of the Colony, and such Districts to abolish, and the boundaries thereof to define and alter as he shall think fit.

Now, therefore I, Sir George Grey, the Governor as aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and notify the districts following, as Petty Session Districts for the purposes of the Act before recited, that is to say:—

PROVINCE OF OTAGO.

Clutha District.

Bounded towards the North by the Nokomai Gold-Field; towards the East by the Dunstan, Mount Benger and Tuapeka Gold Field to Lovell’s Creek, thence by Lovell’s Creek, the Tuakitoto Lake, Kaitangata Lake and Creek, and the Clutha River to the Ocean; towards the South by the Ocean; and towards the West by the Province of Southland.

Port Chalmers District

Comprises the Town of Port Chalmers and all that area bounded towards the North by the Waikouaiti District to Double hill, thence by a line to Mount Cargill; thence towards the west by a line to the West corner of section numbered 77, North-east Valley District (survey) thence by the Western boundary of sections numbered respectively 77 and 78, and a line to the Western corner of section numbered 16, Upper Harbour, West District (survey); thence by the Western boundary of that section to the Harbour, towards the South by the Harbour, and towards the East by the Ocean.

Waikouaiti District.

Bounded towards the North by Fillyburn, the Ranges, Deepdell Creek and Shag River; towards the East by the Ocean; towards the South by the Dunedin Hundred; and towards the West by the Taieri River.

Oamaru District.

Bounded towards the North by the Waitaki River; towards the East by the Ocean; towards the South by the Waikouaiti District; towards the West by the Shag River, the Wakanui Mountains, and the Kurow Creek to the Waitaki River.

Given under my hand at the Government House at Auckland and issued under the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand, this tenth day of December, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.
