Governor’s Order, No. 28.

Appointing Limits for Port of Dunedin.

By his Excellency Sir George Grey,

Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

In exercise of the power in me for this purpose vested by the “Customs Regulation Act, 1858,” I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint that on and from the day of the date hereof the limits of the Port of Dunedin shall be:—

Within a line drawn from Hayward Point to the North-eastern point of the Bar at the entrance of the Port, and thence to Tairoa Head, including all the waters comprised in the Harbour of Otago, together with the site of the Town of Dunedin, and the site of the Town of Port Chalmers, as delineated in the official plans of the same.

Given under my hand at Wellington, this fourteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

Appointing Legal Quays for Port of Dunedin.

By his Excellency Sir George Grey,

Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

In exercise of the power in me for this purpose vested by the “Customs Regulation Act, 1858,” I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint that on and from the day of the date hereof, the Jetty at the bottom of Jetty-street, in the Town of Dunedin, and the Jetty at the bottom of George-street, in the Town of Port Chalmers, shall be deemed and taken to be the legal Landing Places for the lading and unlading of goods at the port of Dunedin under the “Customs Regulation Act, 1858.”

Given under my hand at Wellington, this fourteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

It is hereby notified that a Writ issued for the Election of a member of the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of Bruce, has been returned with a certificate to the effect that

Appointment of Resident Magistrate.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Auckland, 8th October, 1862.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint

Vincent Pyke, Esq., J.P.,

to be a Resident Magistrate under the Resident Magistrates’ Ordinance.

This appointment dates from the 6th September last.
