Dunedin (at 350 feet above the sea) ... ... Deg. 48.2
Cork, the highest in Britain ... ... 48.0
London, altitude 50 feet ... ... 42.5
Edinburgh, altitude 220 feet ... ... 40.5

The average rain fall during the month of March, in London, has been exceeded by .04 inch.
Mr. Ross has kindly furnished his observations for the month, in time for comparison with those taken at this office.

His mean temperature for the month corresponding with that given above is 43.0, showing a decrease of 5 degrees due to the difference of altitude between the two stations.

The daily range of temperature in shade is 20 degrees, showing an excess of nearly 2 degrees over that experienced in Town.

The rain fall according to his observation is greater than that in Dunedin by .825 of an inch.

Dunedin, October 1st, 1862.
