Land Sales and Tenders

115

TOWNSHIP OF PALMERSTON.

The first sale of allotments of land in the Township of Palmerston will take place at the Land Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday, the twenty-second day of October, at Twelve o’clock, when the subjoined allotments will be sold by auction.

The Town of Palmerston is situate at the entrance of the Waihenu Valley, in the neighborhood of Pake-tapu, about thirty-five miles from Dunedin, forty from Oamaru, and eight from Waikouaiti. There is a good supply of timber in the neighborhood, and coal is obtainable at Vulcan Point, a distance of six miles.

The town is intersected by the main North Road, and by the road to the Dunstan Diggings, from Waikouaiti, and is situate in the centre of one of the finest agricultural districts in the Province. Some stone, of a superior quality to any hitherto obtained, has lately been discovered. From its situation at the junction of the main north and south roads, with the road to the interior and the diggings, it is believed Palmerston will become the centre of a large traffic, and is destined to be one of the chief Inland Towns of Otago.
