✨ Gold Fields Proclamations
Richardson, Esquire, as Superintendent of the Province of Otago, all the powers vested in him under or by virtue of the "Gold Fields Act, 1858," except the powers contained in Sections seven, eight, fifteen, twenty-seven, and forty of the said Act, to have, hold, and exercise within the Province of Otago, the said powers by the said Commission given.
Now therefore, I, John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Superintendent as aforesaid of the Province of Otago, do hereby, in pursuance of the said power and authority, constitute and appoint all that territory first hereinafter described to be a Gold Field under the provisions of the said Act and to be called
DUNSTAN GOLD FIELD.
That is to say—All that territory bounded towards the North by an East and West line at the junction of the Louburn and Clutha River; towards the South by an East and West line at a point about two miles below the junction of the Manuherikia River with the Clutha River aforesaid; and towards the East and West by parallel lines drawn from the North and South boundaries, such lines being equi-distant from the Clutha River one mile on either bank.
And I, the said John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Superintendent as aforesaid, do hereby, in further pursuance of the said power and authority, also constitute and appoint all that other territory hereinafter described, to be a Gold Field under the provisions of the said Act, and to be called
NOKOMAI GOLD FIELD
Contains all that area bounded on the North by the Kawarau River; on the East by the watershed of the Carrick, Rocky Mount, Steeple, and East Dome Ranges; thence West to the Mataura; on the South by the Mataura; and on the West by the watershed of the Slate, Nevis, and Double Cone Ranges to the Kawarau.
And I declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation and take effect upon and after the date hereof.
Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twenty-third day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

PROCLAMATION
Revoking a Proclamation constituting Waitahuna a District of the Gold Field, within the Province of Otago, and Regulating the Elections of Members of the Mining Board of the said District.
By His Honor John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation under my hand, dated the twenty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two, I, John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the powers delegated to me as therein set forth, proclaimed Waitahuna and the Woolshed Diggings, and the lands adjacent thereto, to be a District of the Gold Field, within the said Province, for the purpose of forming a Mining Board with the powers and authority described in "the Gold Fields Act, 1858." And whereas it is expedient to revoke the aforesaid Proclamation.
Now, therefore, I, the said John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Superintendent aforesaid, in pursuance and exercise of the powers delegated to me as aforesaid, do hereby revoke the aforesaid Proclamation.

PROCLAMATION
Of the Otago Loan Ordinance, 1861, having been assented to by the Governor.
By John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS in a Session of the Provincial Council, held in the twenty-fifth year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, an Ordinance was passed intituled the "Otago Loan Ordinance, 1861," and having been presented to the Superintendent for the Governor’s assent, the Superintendent reserved the same for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon. And whereas His Excellency has been pleased to assent to the same.
Now, therefore, I, John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby proclaim that the said Ordinance has been duly assented to.
Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twenty-third day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.
