WARRANT APPOINTING AUDITOR
FOR THE PROVINCE OF OTAGO.

Appointment of Auditor of Public Accounts of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS it is enacted by β€œThe Provincial Audit Act, 1861,” that the Superintendent and Provincial Council of every Province in New Zealand, shall concur in the nomination of some fit and proper person to be Auditor of the Public Accounts; that in default of such appointment within the time therein specified, the Governor shall nominate a fit and proper person for such office, and that the person so nominated for such office shall thereupon be appointed to the same by warrant under the hand of the Speaker of the Council:

And whereas it is also thereby enacted that in case of the death of such Auditor, the vacancy thereby occurring, shall be filled up so often as it shall happen by appointment, as therein directed; such appointment, if made on the nomination of the Superintendent and Provincial Council, to be made within two months after the commencement of the Session of the Provincial Council next after the happening of such event:

And whereas by the death of Charles Henry Kettle, Esquire, the office of Auditor of the Public Accounts of the Province of Otago has become vacant:

And whereas the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the said Province have concurred in the nomination of Alexander Livingston, Esquire, of Dunedin, to the said office of Auditor;

Now, therefore I, Alexander Rennie, Speaker of the Provincial Council of the said Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, Do, by this my warrant, appoint Alexander Livingston, Esquire, of Dunedin, to be the Auditor of the Public Accounts of the said Province of Otago.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this nineteenth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

Edward Hassell
to take charge of the Dipping Station for Sheep at Moeraki and Waitaki.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that

James Gardner, Waitaki,
and
Matthew R. Miller, Popotunoa,
have resigned their appointments as Sub-Inspectors of Sheep.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that I have appointed

Edward Hassell
to be a Sub-Inspector of Sheep for the Province of Otago.

IMPOUNDED, on the 9th of June, 1862, a RED COW, branded D on the right hip. Port Chalmers pound.

If not claimed on or before the 2nd day of August next it will be sold to defray expenses.
