ORDER IN COUNCIL,
AUTHORISING ADDITIONAL QUARANTINE REGULATIONS.

At the Government House at Auckland, the eighth day of February, 1862.

Present:
His EXCELLENCY the GOVERNOR-IN-COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the Harbor Regulations Ordinance, No. 15 of Session 2, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor-in-Council, from time to time, to make all such Regulations respecting the placing of Vessels in Quarantine, and the performance of such Quarantine as may seem meet, and to appoint all such officers as may be necessary for the purpose of carrying such Regulations into effect:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, doth hereby make the following additional Quarantine Regulations for the several Ports and Harbors in the Colony of New Zealand, and doth declare that the same shall be in force from and after the date hereof, and that, in addition, and without prejudice to the Regulations published in the Gazette on the 11th day of May, 1860.

REGULATIONS.

(13.) It shall be lawful for the Resident Magistrate and the Harbor Master, and the Health Officer or Medical Practitioner, appointed as in the said recited Regulations mentioned, or any one or more of them, in any Port, to require the Master or Surgeon of any Ship or Vessel to declare, in writing, that such Ship, and the Passengers and Crew thereof, are free from all infectious or contagious disease, and that no infectious or contagious disease has then recently existed on board of her.

(14.) Any person refusing to make or subscribe an Affirmation or Statement, or making or subscribing a false Affirmation or Statement under those Regulations, shall, for each such offence, forfeit and pay the sum of Twenty Pounds sterling.

POUND AT PORT CHALMERS.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honor John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS power is vested in the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, at such places and for such districts as may appear convenient to erect and maintain, or to appoint any suitable premises already erected, adjoining to some public highway, to be established and maintained as public pounds. And Whereas I have caused a pound to be erected on the Town Belt of Port Chalmers, on the north-west side of the road leading from the said town to Sawyer’s Bay, and distant about one chain from said road;

Now, therefore, I, the Superintendent of the Province, do hereby proclaim and appoint the said pound, situate as aforesaid, to be a public pound for the Town of Port Chalmers, and for the purposes of an Ordinance passed by the Lieutenant Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, Session VIII., No. 6, intituled “An Ordinance to Authorise and Regulate the Impounding of Cattle.”

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, this nineteenth day of February, 1862.

CLARENDON JETTY DUES.

NOTICE is hereby given that I, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the “Jetties and Wharves Ordinance, 1858,” do hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, give notice that on and after the First Day of January, 1862, the following and no other Tolls, Dues, and Wharfages shall be levied for the use of the Clarendon Jetty, viz.:

On Sawn Timber, 2d. per 100 feet
On Shingles, 2d. per 1000
On Firewood, 6d. per cord
On all other goods, 1s. per ton.

All Jetty Dues shall be paid by the master or person in charge of each ship, vessel, or boat, before loading or unloading cargo as the case may be.

All goods shall be removed from the Jetty and its approaches on the day of landing, or they will be removed by the Jetty Keeper, at the cost of the consignee.

GENERAL.

Any person refusing or delaying to pay, or attempting in any way to evade the payment, of any of the above Tolls, Dues, and Wharfages, shall be charged double the said rates.
