PROCLAMATION,
By His Honor JOHN LARKINS CHEESE
RICHARDSON, Superintendent of the
Province of Otago.
WHEREAS power is vested in the
Superintendent of the Province of
Otago to declare any house, building, en-
closure, or place to be a Public Gaol: and
whereas by the "Water Police Ordinance,
1861," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Superintendent to declare the hulk
called the "Thomas & Henry," and any
other hulk, to be a Prison for the impri-
sonment of Seamen convicted of offences
against the said Ordinance, and for the
imprisonment of other offenders for whom
there may not at any time be room in the
Gaol at Dunedin: provided the said prison
hulk or hulks should be subject to the
visitation of the Visiting Justices of the
said Province, and to all Prison Rules and
Regulations in force in the said Province.
Now, therefore, I, the said Superinten-
dent, by virtue of the powers so vested in
me, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the said hulk, called the "Thomas and
Henry," shall be a Prison for the imprison-
ment of Seamen convicted of offences
against the said Ordinance, and for the
imprisonment of other offenders for whom
there may not at any time be room in the
Gaol at Dunedin, subject to the visitation
of the Visiting Justices of the Province of
Otago, and to all Prison Rules and Regu-
lations in force in the said Province.

under the Public Seal of the
Province of Otago, this second
day of December, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-one.

DUNEDIN JETTY DUES.
NOTICE is hereby given, that I, the
Superintendent of the Province of
Otago, by virtue of the powers in me vested
by the "Jetties and Wharves Ordinance,
1858," do hereby, with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council, give
notice that on and after the FIRST DAY of
NOVEMBER 1861, the following and no
other Tolls, Dues, and Wharfages shall be
levied for the use of the Dunedin jetty,
viz.:—
On Sawn Timber, 2d. per 100 feet
On Shingles, 2d. per 1000
On Firewood, 6d. per cord
On all other Goods, 1s. 3d. per ton.
All Jetty Dues shall be paid by the
master or person in charge of each ship,
vessel, or boat, before loading or un-loading
