SIR—I have to request that you will call for Mr. Jackson, Manager of the Union Bank, to prove that he discounted for me Bills for Mr. M'Glashan's accommodation, which Bills were retired by the acceptor; and that I exhibited to Mr. Jackson documents shewing that I held stock of Mr. M'Glashan's as collateral security.
Also that you will send for Mr. Douglas, Book-keeper to J. M. and Co., to prove that Mr. M'Glashan had received various payments from me for the accommodation of the borrower, which sums were repaid by him.
TREASURER'S BOND.
HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs the publication of the following Letter in connection with the preceding Report, the Bond in question having been found after Dr. Knight left Otago:—

SIR—I am happy to be able to inform you that Mr. E. B. CARGILL has this day delivered me the Bond of Indemnification for the due performance of your duties as Treasurer. It was found, after considerable search among some papers which the late Capt. CARGILL was arranging previous to his death.
I take the opportunity of expressing the regret of the Government that its absence should have caused you any anxiety and trouble.

WASTE LAND BOARD.
IT being desirable that there should be a change in the constitution of the Waste Land Board, the following Gentlemen are hereby appointed to be, from and after the date hereof, the Commissioners, and, together with the Chief Commissioner, to constitute the Waste Land Board of this Province:—

PRIVATE BILL.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that at the ensuing Sitting of the Provincial Council of Otago, application will be made for leave to bring in a Bill for Transferring the Management and Administration of that Piece of Land, with the Building thereon, known as the MECHANICS' INSTITUTE, Dunedin, from the Superintendent of the Province of Otago to the Committee of Management of the Dunedin Athenæum and Mechanics' Institute, and for authorising the Leasing and Mortgaging of the said Land and Building, with consent of the said Superintendent, and for Appropriating the Funds to arise from such Leasing and Mortgaging.
