Council be prohibited either to be exported or carried coastwise; that is to say, Arms, Ammunition, and Gunpowder, Military and Naval Stores, and any articles which the Governor shall judge capable of being converted into or made useful in increasing the quantity of military or naval stores; and if any goods so prohibited shall be exported from the colony or carried coastwise, or be waterborne to be so exported or carried, they shall be forfeited:
And whereas certain aboriginal natives of the colony of New Zealand are in arms against the Queen\'s sovereign authority, and it is therefore expedient that the exportation of warlike stores to such colony be prohibited: Now, therefore, I, Sir Henry Barkly, the Governor of Victoria, in exercise of the power vested in me in that behalf by the said Act, with the advice of the Executive Council, do hereby prohibit the exportation from any port or place in Victoria aforesaid of Arms, Ammunition, Gunpowder, Military and Naval Stores, or any articles which may be converted to a military or naval purpose, except in manner and subject to the conditions hereinafter mentioned or referred to, that is to say :βFrom and after the date hereof, Arms, Ammunition, Gunpowder, or other warlike stores shall and may be exported only under license, in writing, first obtained for that purpose under the hand of the Commissioner of Trade and Customs for the time being, and only at the place, in the manner, and subject to the conditions (if any) specified in such license; Provided always that nothing in this proclamation shall be construed to apply to the exportation of supplies for the use of Her Majesty\'s land and sea forces.
Given under my hand and the Seal of the Colony, at Melbourne, this seventeenth day of April, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty, and in the twenty-third year of Her Majesty\'s Reign.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR directs it to be notified that all Arms, Gunpowder, and other Warlike Stores, imported into the Colony without previous license, are liable to seizure as forfeited to the Crown, and, after the date of this Notice, will be seized accordingly.
Provided that, if in any case it shall be shewn, to the satisfaction of the Governor, that the shipment of such stores was ordered previously to the publication of this Notice, and that there was no opportunity of countermanding such shipment, License may be granted to export the same.
Persons desirous of importing Arms, Gunpowder, and other Warlike Stores, must, in future, make application for License to import such stores previously to ordering the shipment thereof to the Colony.
This Notice is not to apply to Arms and Ammunition imported in reasonable quantities for the personal use of the importer, as to which it will be sufficient to apply for a License after the arrival of the importing ship.

PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency Colonel THOMAS GORE BROWNE, Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty\'s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c. &c. &c.
WHEREAS the General Assembly of New Zealand now stands prorogued to the eighteenth day of June next, and it is expedient further to prorogue the same: Now, therefore, I, the Governor, in pursuance of the authority in me vested in that behalf, do hereby further prorogue the said General Assembly to Wednesday, the twenty-fifth day of July next ensuing; and I do hereby further announce and proclaim that the said General Assembly shall assemble for the despatch of business on the aforesaid Wednesday the twenty-fifth day of July next, at two o\'clock p.m., in the General Assembly House, at Auckland; and the Honorable Members of the Legislative Council and the House of Representatives, are hereby required to give their attendance at the said time and place accordingly.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Colony of New Zealand, at the Government House at Auckland, this twenty-eighth day of May, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty.
