PORT CHALMERS TOWN BOARD.

ELECTION OF TOWN BOARD, TO CONSIST OF NINE MEMBERS.

IN pursuance of the \"Port Chalmers and Invercargill Town Board Ordinance, 1859,\" I, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint the Electors entitled to vote for Members of the Town of Port Chalmers in the Provincial Council of Otago, to assemble upon FRIDAY, the 25th day of May 1860, at 12 o\'clock noon, at the School-house, Port Chalmers, for the purpose of electing the Members of the said Town Board of Port Chalmers And further, in pursuance of the said Ordinance, I hereby appoint JOHN GILLIES, Esquire, of Dunedin, Returning Officer, to preside at the said Meeting; and in the event of a Poll being demanded, I hereby appoint the polling to take place in the said School-house, on SATURDAY, the 26th day of May 1860.

HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs the publication of the following correspondence for general information:—

Dunedin, 19th April 1860.

SIR,—Referring to the resolution passed by a public meeting of the settlers of Tokomairiro on 1st February last, respecting the formation of a Rifle Corps in that district, I have the honour to annex for the information of said settlers the reply by the General Government to my application on behalf of the Province for rifles. You will observe that the boundaries require to be fixed, and a memorial with certain suggestions forwarded to the Government.
