NOTICE OF HEARING.

Court of Claims, Otago, 20th September 1859.

PURSUANT to the "Land Claims Settlement Act, 1856," and the "Land Claims Settlement Extension Act, 1858," the Claims specified in the annexed Schedule will be investigated in open Court, at Dunedin, on MONDAY, the 10th day of October next, and following days, at which time and place the Claimant and all parties interested are required to attend, with their witnesses and the original deeds or documents relating to their respective claims.

George Green 2000 Centre Island, Off Kowokkapittipit This was an Original Claim, No. 1. Commissioners Godfrey and Richmond reported, 21st December 1843, that claimant had not appeared pursuant to notice, and recommended No Grant. The excuse for non-appearance now deemed sufficient, and George Green admitted to prove his claim.
George Green 20,000 Stewart’s Island This was an Original Claim, No. 2, and is in the same position as the above.
George Green 20,000 Kowokkapittipit Bay This was an Original Claim, No. 3, and is in the same position as the above.
George Green 109 The Bluff This was an Original Claim, No. 4, and is in the same position as the above.
George Green 1,024,000 West Coast, Wanker-peto, Mistaken Bay This was an Original Claim, No. 5, and is in the same position as the above.

THE following Act passed by the General Assembly of New Zealand, in the Session held in the twenty-first and twenty-second years of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled—

No. 70—“An Act to provide for the establishment of New Provinces in New Zealand,”
having been laid before the Queen, in conformity with the provisions of the Constitution Act, Her Majesty has been graciously pleased to leave the same to its operation.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand, and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

WHEREAS by an Act passed in the Session of Parliament held in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of Her Majesty’s reign, intituled “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,” it is amongst other things enacted that no Bill which shall be reserved for the signification of Her Majesty’s pleasure thereon, shall have any force or authority within the Colony of New Zealand until the Governor of the said colony shall signify by speech or message to the Legislative Council and House of Representatives of the said Colony, or by Proclamation that such Bill has been laid before Her Majesty in Council, and that Her Majesty has been pleased to assent to the same:

And whereas on the nineteenth day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight, certain Bills passed by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives of the said Colony, intituled respectively

“An Act for granting a Duty upon Gold,”
“An Act to make provision for the management of Gold Fields in the Colony of New Zealand,”

and

“An Act to enable the Provincial Councils to pass Laws for diverting Public Roads and Watercourses and for disposing of the Land over which the same passed,”

were presented to the Governor of the said Colony for Her Majesty’s assent, and on the twenty-first day of the same month of August certain other Bills passed by the said Legislative Council and House of Representatives intituled respectively

“An Act to alter the sums granted to Her Majesty”
