✨ Patriotic Fund Receipts and Notice to Mariners
for thirty-two pounds fifteen shillings and
ninepence in favour of the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury,
on account of
British Income Tax, the other for thirty-
four pounds one shilling and tenpence in
favour of the Royal Patriotic Fund on ac-
count of subscriptions raised in Otago and
Auckland.
The first of those Certificates has been
sent to the Treasury, and the second to
the Commissioners for the above Fund,
whose receipt, together with a copy of the
letter which accompanied it, is now an-
exed.

Sir—I have the honour to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter of the 2nd inst.,
transmitting by direction of Secretary Sir
E. Bulwer Lytton, a Commissariat Cer-
tificate for thirty-four pounds one shilling
and tenpence from the Governor of New
Zealand, a Receipt for which I have the
honour to enclose; of which amount thirty-
two pounds ten shillings and tenpence have
been collected at Otago, and the remaining
one pound eleven shillings is the balance
of the Auckland contributions; and I am
further directed to request the favour of
the Governor conveying to all engaged in
this act of benevolence the best thanks of
the Royal Commissioners.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.
PENCARROW LIGHT HOUSE.
NOTICE is hereby given that on and after
the first day of January next, a new
light will be exhibited on Pencarrow Head
at the entrance of Port Nicholson, (Wellington)
Cook’s Strait, New Zealand.
The new light will be of the second order,
(Catadioptric system) with eclipses at inter-
vals of two minutes; it will be 420 feet above
high water mark, and visible in ordinary
weather at a distance of thirty English
miles.
The following are the magnetic bearings
and distances of the site of the new Light
House:—
From Baring Head, N.W. by N., 3 ¼ miles.
From Sinclair Head, E. by N. ½ N., 6 ¾
miles.
From Outer Rock of Barrett’s Reef, S.E. by
E. ½ E., 1 mile.
From Steeple Rock, S.S.E., 2 miles.
From Cape Campbell, N.N.E. ¼ E., 33
miles.
The Lighthouse is in Latitude 41° 22’ 0” S.
Longitude 174° 51’ 15” E.
