PROCLAMATION

By His Honor WILLIAM CARGILL,
Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago,

WHEREAS in the Session of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, held in the twenty-first year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Ordinances were passed, intituled respectively the

  • "Local Municipal Estate Ordinance, 1857,"
  • "Provincial Council Enlargement Ordinance, 1857,"
  • "Town Land Sales Ordinance, 1857,"
    and the
  • "Church of England Cemetery Ordinance, 1857:"

And whereas the said Ordinances were presented to me for the assent of His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand on the 16th day of November 1857, and were then reserved by me for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon: And Whereas His Excellency has been pleased to assent to the said Ordinances;

Now therefore I, the said William Cargill, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby Proclaim that His Excellency Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, the Governor of New Zealand, assented to the said Ordinances on the 11th day of February 1858.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at

(L.S.) Government House, Dunedin,
the third day of September,
One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-eight.

NOTICE.

I, JOHN GILLIES, Resident Magistrate for the Province of Otago, hereby certify that Mr. ROBT. BURNS, of Edinburgh, has this day, in terms of an Ordinance of the Province of New Munster, dated 18th May 1849, and entituled,

"An Ordinance to define the Qualifications, and to provide for the remuneration, in certain cases, of Medical Practitioners," submitted to me the proof of his qualifications as a Medical Practitioner, and I find that, upon the 19th day of February 1856, he was duly admitted, and received his Diploma, as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh; and, upon the same day, he was duly examined and found qualified to practice Midwifery.

Given under my hand at Dunedin, this 26th day of July 1858.
