PROCLAMATION

By His Honor WILLIAM CARGILL, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, entitled the “Roads’ Ordinance, 1856,” it is among other things enacted, Section 2, that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Board of Road Trustees, from time to time, by proclamation in the Government Gazette, to alter, vary, diminish, or enlarge, the boundaries of any or all of the Districts named in the Schedule to the said Ordinance, and to increase the number of Districts by forming and naming new Districts. And whereas it is necessary to alter the boundary of the District No. 6 of the said Schedule, called “East Taieri District,” and form the same into two Districts, named and bounded as after-mentioned: Now, THEREFORE, I, the said Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Board of Road Trustees, do hereby divide and proclaim the said District into two Districts, to be respectively named “North Taieri District,” and “East Taieri District,” and to be bounded as follows:—

NORTH TAIERI DISTRICT.

This District comprises the tract of country within the following boundaries—From a point on the Taieri River where the boundary or division line between river sections Nos. 40 and 41 extended would strike the said river; thence direct across a road line and following the division or boundary line referred to; thence to a road line forming the North-eastern boundary of said and other river sections; thence following the North-eastern boundary line of said section No. 40 to a point where a line running in a North-east direction, and dividing the sections in Blocks XIX., XII., XI., &c., East Taieri District, would strike the boundary line referred to of said section No. 40; thence across a road line direct to and following the said line running North-east and dividing in half
