Note.—Previous to 1854 nearly all Produce exported was entered Coastwise, and of course went to the credit of the Port at which the vessel carrying it cleared foreign; but in that and the past year all Produce exported has been cleared direct for its final port of destination.

It would appear as if a falling off had taken place in the Revenue of the past year, although such can hardly be said to be the case; the discrepancy arises from the fact that it was anticipated a considerable addition would be made to the duties on spirits by the General Assembly during the Session of 1854, and in consequence merchants relieved largely from bond, else the years would have been as nearly as possible equal.
