PROCLAMATION.
Province of William Orbell, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by the Public Roads Ordinance passed in the first Session of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, No. 10, it is inter alia enacted, that the Superintendent shall divide the whole Province into Districts for the purposes of the said Ordinance, each comprising such local limits as he shall appoint: in the manner therein described.
Now therefore, I, the said Superintendent, in pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me, do hereby appoint that the said Province shall be divided into the following Districts, namely:—
Their boundaries shall thenceforth be portions of Roads intended to be under the care of Inspectors of Roads in each District; and in the said Notice shall appoint a day on which he will hear any complaint or suggestion which may be addressed to him in regard to the extent of the boundaries of the Districts of such Districts; and shall finally fix and determine such boundaries.
And whereas in terms of a Notice in the Otago Witness newspaper a public meeting was called to be held at the Meekanics' Institution, Dunedin, on the 14th day of July instant, for the hearing any complaint or suggestion in terms of said Ordinance.
Now therefore, I, the Superintendent of the said Province, do proclaim and declare the said Province to be divided into the following Districts, namely:—
No. 1.—North-East Valley District.
This District comprises the District of the same name, as delineated on the public map.
No. 2.—Wakari District.
This District comprises the District of the same name, as delineated on the suburban selection maps of the Settlement; the Upper Kaikorai District; Sections No. 1 to 17 inclusive of the Lower Kaikorai District, and from thence in a straight line, from the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 17 to the Town Belt of Dunedin; thence along the Town Belt of Dunedin, so as to include the Sections numbered 80 to 90 inclusive, Block Y; Town District.
From No. 21, Lower Kaikorai District; thence in a straight line running Westerly to the West Harbour Road; thence Southerly to Kaikorai Valley Road; thence along the same road to Abbot's Creek, then following this creek to its source; and from thence going in a straight line to the north-western corner of Section No. 166, Wakari District.
No. 3.—Town District.
This District comprises that particular District of the same name not included in the Wakari District No. 2, to a line running south-east, in a right line from the Town Belt of Dunedin to the Ocean Beach together with the Sections numbered 18 to 68 inclusive of the Town District.
