Declaration Terminating State of Local Emergency

Pursuant to section 72 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, Councillor Stephen Woodhead, terminate the state of local emergency declared on Friday 21 July 2017 at 7.30pm for Otago Civil Defence Emergency Management Group of Clutha District, Dunedin City and Waitaki District, owing to extreme flooding.

The termination of the state of local emergency takes effect immediately on the making of this declaration.

Designation: Person appointed and authorised by the Civil Defence Emergency Management Group to declare a state of local emergency for its area.

Time and Date of Declaration: 9.00am on Monday 24 July 2017.

Notice of Local Transition Period

Pursuant to section 94B of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, we, David Cull, Mayor, Dunedin City, and Stephen Woodhead, Chairperson, Otago Regional Council, give notice of a local transition period over the Otago Civil Defence Emergency Management Group Districts of Waitaki, Dunedin and Clutha, owing to the severe weather event on 21–23 July 2017.

This transition period:

a. comes into force at 9.00am on 24 July 2017, which is the time and date when:

i. this notice is given;

ii. the state of emergency declared at 7.30pm on 21 July 2017 for Waitaki, Dunedin and Clutha is terminated;

b. is in force for 28 days; and

c. ends at 9.00am on 21 August 2017 unless extended or terminated earlier.

Declaration of State of Local Emergency

Pursuant to section 68 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, Councillor Stephen Woodhead, declare that a state of local emergency exists in the Otago Civil Defence Emergency Management Group area of Clutha District, Dunedin City and Waitaki District, owing to an extreme weather event causing flooding.

The state of local emergency comes into force immediately on the making of this declaration, and expires seven days after the time and date on which it comes into force (unless extended or terminated at an earlier time).

Designation: Person appointed and authorised by the Civil Defence Emergency Management Group to declare a state of local emergency for its area.
