Consultation Extension of Proposed Maritime Rules

On 13 April 2017, in accordance with section 446(a) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Maritime New Zealand, on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gave notice by Gazette of the Minister’s intention to make the following Maritime Rules:

Maritime Rules 40 Series Rule Amendments (2017)

The set of proposed 40 series rule amendments cover six separate issues, with an aim to either improve safety outcomes, or remove outdated and conflicting requirements or in some cases reduce the cost of compliance.

The amendments are specific to:

Maritime Rules Part 40A: Design, Construction and Equipment – Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships

Maritime Rules Part 40C: Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger Ships that are not SOLAS

Maritime Rules Part 40D: Design, Construction and Equipment – Fishing Ships

Maritime Rules Part 40E: Design, Construction and Equipment – Sailing Ships

Maritime Rules Part 43: Radio

Comments are invited on the proposed Maritime Rules developed under the Maritime Transport Act 1994. Consultation commenced on Thursday 13 April 2017 and has been to Sunday 11 June 2017.

The consultation document and online submission form are available on the following website:
www.maritimenz.govt.nz/consultation.

Submissions must be made online, by email, or by post by Sunday 11 June 2017.

Civil Aviation Rule Part 95—Instrument Flight Procedures—Registration

Pursuant to Civil Aviation Rule Part 95.55, the following amendments were designated with effect from 25 May 2017:
