Land Acquisition and Road Declarations

NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE, No. 22 — 2 MARCH 2017

The land contains the existing Maraekakaho War Memorial and is required for the purpose of a historic reserve.
The reasons why the council considers it reasonably necessary to take the land are:

a. The land contains the existing Maraekakaho War Memorial and the council wishes to take ownership of the land to formalise its current use.

b. Part of the land is required for the upgrade of the existing intersection of State Highway 50 and Kereru Road to improve the safety of the intersection.

The registered proprietors of the land are deceased and have no legal representatives. The successors to the owner of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of the council’s intention to take the land by way of public advertising, and notified of their right to object.

Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, 5th Floor, District Court Building, 49 Ballance Street, Wellington 6011, or by post to PO Box 5027, Wellington 6145, or DX SX10044, Wellington, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.

If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held with the right of the objector to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires and each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.

Any person requiring further information in respect of this advice should contact Gareth Nicholl, The Property Group Limited, Level 1, 6 Albion Street, Napier. Postal Address: PO Box 49, Napier 4140. Telephone: (06) 833 6451.
