Explanatory note

This note is not part of the instrument, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This instrument, which comes into force on the 28th day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette, amends the Special Needs Grants Programme under the Social Security Act 1964 to clarify that income includes New Zealand superannuation and veteran’s pension.

Renewed Designations of Terrorist Entities

On 26 September 2016 the terrorist designations of Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades; Continuity Irish Republican Army; Ejercito de Liberacion Nacional; Harakat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, Bangladesh; Indian Mujahideen; Islamic Resistance; Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades; New People’s Army/Communist Party of the Philippines; Palestinian Islamic Jihad; and Real Irish Republican Army were renewed pursuant to section 35 of the Terrorism Suppression Act 2002.

Any person who deals with the property of the entities listed below may be liable to prosecution for an offence under section 9 of the Terrorism Suppression Act 2002.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades (also known as AAMB; Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade; Al-Aqsa Intifada Martyrs’ Group; Al-Aqsa Brigades; Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Group; Al-Aqsa Martyrs Battalion; Armed Militias of the Al-Aqsa Martyr Battalions).
