NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE, No. 54 — 16 JUNE 2016

  1. Seek advice from the New Zealand Defence Force in relation to the use of radio spectrum for national defence;

  2. Publish clear licensing policy and rules to facilitate the efficient and effective use of radio spectrum;

  3. Where bands are subject to international planning processes for the introduction of new technologies and services, radio licences granted pursuant to Regulation 8 of the Regulations should be limited to:

    (i) facilitating the transition of existing licensed services to alternative frequencies; and

    (ii) demonstrating, subject to protecting existing licensed services, the operation of new technologies;

  4. Technology developments and international harmonisation decisions will affect the Government’s decisions on the long term use of the frequencies listed in clause 8. In the interim, new radio licences will not be granted for services in the ranges of the frequencies listed in clause 8 except where the granting of radio licences is necessary for the purpose of:

    (a) maintaining the coverage of services provided by existing licensees;

    (b) facilitating, by means of short-term licences, the transition of existing licensed services to alternative frequencies;

    (c) demonstrating, by means of short-term licences and subject to the protection of existing licensed services, the operation of new technologies; or

    (d) facilitating, by means of short-term licences and subject to existing licensed services, the use of this spectrum for specific short term events;

  5. The frequencies for the purposes of clause 7 are:

    (a) 174 MHz – 230 MHz;

    (b) 806 MHz – 824 MHz;

    (c) 851 MHz – 869 MHz;

    (d) 2370 MHz – 2395 MHz; and

    (e) 5875 MHz – 5925 MHz.

  6. You must comply with the directions set out above in relation to all applications for radio licences, including applications made before the date of this notice but not dealt with before that date.

All previous statements of Government policy made pursuant to section 112 of the Act are revoked.

Reappointment to the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal

Pursuant to section 86 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the Minister of Health has reappointed

Maria Dew

as a deputy chair of the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal for a three-year term of office commencing on 1 July 2016.

Board of Trustees Elections Extension Notice

Pursuant to clause 9(2) of the Sixth Schedule to the Education Act 1989, and with delegated authority from the Minister of Education, I hereby extend the period for closing the polls, and all subsequent actions in accordance with the Education (School Trustee Elections) Regulations 2000, for the elections of parent and staff representatives for Cheltenham School (2347) and Waimea Intermediate School (3233).

The elections must be held by 12 August 2016.

This notice takes effect on the day of publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
