Notice of Intention to Take Land for the Convention Centre Precinct—Christchurch City

Notice is hereby given, under section 54 of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act 2011 ("Act"), that the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery proposes to take the land described in the Schedule to this notice.

The exercise of this power is in accordance with section 10 of that Act.

The land is required for the implementation of the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan and it is intended to use the land for the purposes of the Convention Centre Precinct.

The reasons why the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery considers it necessary to take the land are:

a. The Convention Centre Precinct is an integral part of the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan;

b. the land described in the Schedule to this notice has been identified as the appropriate location for the Convention Centre Precinct; and

c. the Convention Centre Precinct cannot be properly constructed and operated without the interests in the land being acquired.
