Summary of Notices of Conservation Land Where Freedom Camping is Prohibited or Restricted
In accordance with section 17 of the Freedom Camping Act 2011, the Deputy Director-General Operations, acting under delegation from the Director-General of the Department of Conservation (“Department”), hereby gives notice that freedom camping will be restricted or prohibited by freedom camping notices covering certain conservation land managed by the Department. Freedom camping notices define (by text and map) the conservation land where freedom camping is restricted or prohibited, and what restrictions and prohibitions apply on each site. Where they apply, restrictions are specified on the notice relating to each site. Restrictions may include matters such as duration of stay, season of use and/or hours of use.
The freedom camping notices are held at the Department’s National Office and are available for inspection electronically at the offices of the Department. The notices are also available for inspection on the Department’s website

Copies of the notices may be obtained through the offices of the Department on payment of a reasonable amount to cover costs of reproducing the notices.
This summary is in addition to the summary published in the New Zealand Gazette, 19 November 2015, Issue No. 126, Notice No. 2015-go6786. The updated freedom camping notices will come into force on 1 December 2016.

Māori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement (Extension to Negotiation Periods for Canterbury and Southland Regions) Notice 2016 (Notice No. MPI 702)
Pursuant to section 11(3) of the Maori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act 2004 (“Act”), the Minister for Primary Industries, after complying with the requirements in section 11(4) of the Act, gives the following notice.
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Māori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement (Extension to Negotiation Periods for Canterbury and Southland Regions) Notice 2016.
(2) This notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Interpretation—In this notice:
a. Act means the Maori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act 2004.
b. Canterbury region negotiation period means the period up to and including 30 November 2016 applying to the Canterbury region, having already been extended twice (under New Zealand Gazette, 26 June 2014,
