General Information
Any animal moved in contravention of this notice may be seized by an inspector or authorised person and destroyed, treated or otherwise dealt with, if it is reasonable in the circumstances to do so. TBfree New Zealand may also recover the cost of testing for bovine tuberculosis pursuant to the Biosecurity Act 1993 and the Biosecurity (Deer and Other Testing Costs) Regulations 1998.
Failure to comply with the requirements of this notice may result in prosecution under the Biosecurity Act 1993. If convicted, an individual will be liable to a term of imprisonment not exceeding three months, or a fine not exceeding $50,000.00, or both. A corporation convicted of an offence is liable to a fine not exceeding $100,000.00.
Revocation
The declaration issued on 1 March 2014 in regard to movement controls for bovine tuberculosis and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 28 February 2014, No. 25, page 745, and in Farmers Weekly on 24 February 2014, and Rural News on 4 March, 2014 is hereby revoked, with effect from 1 March 2015.
Summary of Changes
This declaration has the effect of revoking the Hokonui and Pisa movement control areas in their entirety, along with part of the North Canterbury Marlborough Movement Control Area, as shown in the areas marked as “Movement Control Area reduction” in the maps published with this notice.
