Notification of Rates of Levy Under the Biosecurity (Border Processing Levy) Order 2015 (Notice No. MPI 564)

Pursuant to clause 4(3) and with reference to clause 5(5) of the Biosecurity (Border Processing Levy) Order 2015, I hereby notify that the rates of levy for the initial levy period (beginning with 1 January 2016 and ending with 30 June 2018), and for any subsequent levy period unless otherwise notified, are as follows:

a. $12.20 for a traveller who arrives in New Zealand on a cruise ship; and
b. $8.38 for all other travellers who arrive in New Zealand.

The rates of levy are exclusive of goods and services tax.

Any person may make a written submission to the director-general concerning this application.

Under sections 16 and 17 of the Act, a written submission:

a. must state in full the reasons for making the submission; and
b. may state any decision sought on that application; and
c. must be received by the director-general no later than 30 working days after the date of notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Under section 18 of the Act, a copy of every submission will be forwarded to the applicant for the applicant’s information.
