Appointment of Persons to be Protection Officers Under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996

Where, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport did delegate those powers under section 16 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to Maritime New Zealand by an instrument of delegation dated 19 March 1997.

And where, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Maritime New Zealand did delegate those powers under section 16 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime New Zealand by an instrument of delegation dated 20 December 2010.

Therefore I, Keith Manch, Director of Maritime New Zealand, hereby appoint the following persons to be protection officers under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996, and in association with the Precision Helicopters Limited’s helicopter patrol service:

  • Christopher Luke (Wanganui)
  • Benjamin John Hubbard (Wellington)

This notice comes into force on the day after the date of notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Notice of Approval of Revocation of Approved Code of Practice for Power-Operated Elevating Work Platforms

In accordance with section 20A of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, I, Michael Allan Woodhouse, Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety, give notice that I have approved the revocation of the Approved Code of Practice for Power-Operated Elevating Work Platforms (ACOP).

The ACOP has been superseded by the Best Practice Guidelines for Mobile Elevating Work Platforms.

The revocation is published on the WorkSafe New Zealand website
www.worksafe.govt.nz

Active Stop Ahead Sign Trial

Pursuant to subclause 3.4(1) of Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004 ("the Rule") and a delegation from the NZ Transport Agency, I, Glenn Bunting, Network Manager, authorise the installation and maintenance of active stop ahead signs:

  1. for the purpose described in Schedule 1;
  2. in the form and layout set out in Schedule 2;
  3. at the locations stated in Schedule 3;
  4. for the period specified in Schedule 4; and
  5. subject to the conditions and an evaluation outlined in Schedule 5.

The active stop ahead signs may be installed for the purpose of evaluating their use and the trial will be called the "active stop ahead sign trial".
