NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE, No. 121 — 5 NOVEMBER 2015

Pursuant to Section 141(1) of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996

The Environmental Protection Authority is calling for submissions on proposed amendments to the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Not Genetically Modified) Regulations 1998 (“the Regulations”).

The consultation document outlines two proposed amendments to the Regulations:

correct drafting errors in clause 3(1)(b) of the Regulations, identified by the High Court in a judgment in 2014; and
clarify that the Regulations cover any organisms created using chemical and radiation treatments in use for mutagenesis on or before 29 July 1998.
