Notification of Application of Whenua Rāhui Overlay Classification and Protection Principles - Part of Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve
Pursuant to section 46(1)(a) of the Ngāti Mākino Claims Settlement Act 2012, the Minister of Conservation hereby notifies that the area described in the Schedule hereto has been declared to be subject to an overlay classification known as whenua rāhui by section 38 of the Act.
The provisions of the Act which relate to whenua rāhui are sections 37–55.
Pursuant to section 46(1)(b) of the Act, the Minister hereby notifies that the following protection principles are directed at the Minister of Conservation avoiding harm to, or the diminishing of, Ngāti Mākino values in relation to part of Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve:
a. Respect for the interests and relationships that Ngāti Mākino have with part of Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve;
b. accurate portrayal of the interests and relationships that Ngāti Mākino have with part of Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve;
c. recognition of Ngāti Mākino’s relationship with and the importance to Ngāti Mākino of the ecosystems and life forms within part of Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve;
d. recognition of Ngāti Mākino’s relationship with the lands around Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve;
e. recognition of Ngāti Mākino’s relationship with part of Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve and the connections of part of Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve with the waters of the lake;
f. recognition of Ngāti Mākino’s relationship with the wāhi tapu and wāhi whakahirahira in part of Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve; and
g. recognition of and respect for ngā tikanga o Ngāti Mākino and its relevance to the protection of part of Lake Rotoma Scenic Reserve.

Notification of Application of Te Whakairinga Kōrero Overlay Classification and Protection Principles - Ōtawa
Pursuant to section 50(1)(a) of the Waitaha Claims Settlement Act 2013, the Minister of Conservation hereby notifies that the area described in the Schedule hereto has been declared to be subject to an overlay classification known as Te Whakairinga Kōrero by section 42 of the Act.
The provisions of the Act which relate to Te Whakairinga Kōrero are sections 41–60.
Pursuant to section 50(1)(b) of the Act, the Minister hereby notifies that the following protection principles are directed at the Minister of Conservation avoiding harm to, or diminishing of the values of Waitaha and Ngā Tikanga o Waitaha in relation to Ōtawa:
a. Protection of wāhi tapu, indigenous flora and fauna, and the wider environment on Ōtawa;
b. protection and recognition of the mauri of Ōtawa;
