Pursuant to sections 47(3) and 395(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:

• 1 from Maritime Rule 20.21(a) – Requirement to operate within lesser of operating limits assigned to ship or operating limits that apply to Master – Operating limits that are assigned to that ship under Rule 20.20(1) and that are recorded in accordance with Rule 20.20(2)

• 2 from Maritime Rule 22.23(1)(a), Appendix 1, Section 3(4) – Collision Prevention – Power-driven vessels underway must exhibit masthead light forward – Horizontal positioning and spacing of lights – Light must be exhibited forward amidships

• 1 from Maritime Rule 31.42(a) – Crewing and Watchkeeping – SOLAS and STCW ships – Minimum watchkeeping and special crewing requirements – Owner and master of ship in Rule 31.40(1) must not operate that ship unless there are on board at least minimum number of crew holding special crewing requirements

• 2 from Maritime Rule 31.44(b), Table 6 – Crewing and Watchkeeping – SOLAS and STCW ships – Coastal and offshore limits – Ships operating beyond restricted limits but within coastal limits or offshore limits must carry at least engine room watchkeepers specified in Table 6

• 1 from Maritime Rule 31.61(2) – Crewing and Watchkeeping – Fishing ships that proceed beyond the inshore fishing area other than fishing ships less than 24 metres within coastal and offshore limits – Navigational watchkeeping arrangements and principles – Owner and master ship and any person engaged in navigational watchkeeping duties on the ship must take account of standards for navigational watchkeeping set out in Chapter IV of the Annex to STCW-F

• 1 from Maritime Rule 31.84(1) – Crewing and Watchkeeping – Ships other than ships to which subparts C and D apply – Minimum crewing requirements for other ships – This rule applies to a passenger or non-passenger ship other than a ship listed in Rule 31.82(2)

• 1 from Maritime Rule 31.84(2)(b)(i), Table 11 – Crewing and Watchkeeping – Ships other than ships to which subparts C and D apply – Minimum crewing requirements for other ships – Owner and master of ship must not operate ship unless seafarers on board hold minimum requirement certificates and prescribed endorsements – Crewing for passenger ships – Enclosed water limits

• 1 from Maritime Rule 31.84(4)(b), Table 11 – Crewing and Watchkeeping – Ships other than ships to which subparts C and D apply – Minimum crewing requirements for other ships – Applicable tables and flow-charts for passenger ships operating within enclosed water limits

• 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.40(1)(b) – Design, Construction and Equipment – Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships – Electrical systems – For ships 24 metres or less in length overall, electrical systems must comply with applicable parts of the AS/NZS 3004.2 Electrical installations – Marinas and Boats

• 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.55(1), Appendix 3.3 – Design, Construction and Equipment – Passenger ships which are not SOLAS ships – Fire-fighting appliances – Owner and master of a ship must ensure fire appliances are provided in accordance with requirements of Appendix 3 – Restricted limit ships
