  • 1 from Maritime Rule 90.23(2) – Pilotage – Pilotage requirements to carry a pilot – Master of any ship, other than an oil tanker, chemical tanker or gas carrier, that meets or exceeds any limits specified for a pilotage area must ensure that the ship, when navigating in that pilotage area, carries a pilot who holds a current, appropriate pilot licence

  • 5 from Marine Protection Rule 122.4(1) and (2) – Marine Protection Products – Oil – Oil discharge monitoring and control system and oil filtering equipment – Applies to ships of 400 gross tonnage or more, owner must ensure that every ship is fitted with oil filtering equipment designed to ensure any oily mixture, which is discharged into the sea after passing through the system, has an oil content not exceeding 15 parts per million

  • 1 from Marine Protection Rule 200.17(a) – Offshore Installations – Operations – Permitted discharges of oil and oily mixtures – Oil content of the discharge without dilution does not exceed 15 parts per million

  • 1 from Marine Protection Rule 200.18 – Offshore Installations – Operations – Oil and oily mixtures that cannot be discharged – Owner must ensure oil and oily mixtures are retained on board, offloaded as produced oil, or discharged to a reception facility

  • 1 from Marine Protection Rule 200.21(6)(a) – Offshore Installations – Operations – Oil record book – Owner must ensure the installation’s oil record book is kept on the installation

Pursuant to section 448 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, notification is hereby given of the making of maritime rules:

Part 40A, Part 40C, Part 400, Part 40E, Part 40F, and Part 42A: Amendment 2014

All listed Rules come into force on 7 August 2014.

Land Transport Act 1998

Notification of Ordinary Rule

Pursuant to section 161(3) of the Land Transport Act 1998, notification is hereby given of the making of Land Transport Rule: Light-vehicle Brakes Amendment 2014 (“the Rule”).

The Rule requires that new light motor vehicles entering service in New Zealand on or after 1 July 2015 must be fitted with electronic stability control (ESC). The Rule also sets out a phased introduction of ESC for used light motor vehicles entering New Zealand over the period 2016 to 2020. A requirement to maintain an ESC system in good working order will apply to all vehicles that are already fitted with ESC.

The Rule comes into force on 1 July 2015.

The Rule is available for inspection, free of charge, at the National Office of the NZ Transport Agency, 50 Victoria Street, Wellington and at the NZ Transport Agency’s regional offices.
