Notice is hereby given under section 9(2) of the Historic Places Act 1993 ("the Act") of the declaration by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust that the following site is an archaeological site as defined by section 2 of the Act:

Norwegian Whalers’ Base, Prices Inlet, Rakiura/Stewart Island (New Zealand Archaeological Association Site Record No. E48/21)

Section 31 Block XV Paterson Survey District; CT SLB3/1093; Declaration area boundary formed by Road Reserve legal boundary and NZTM GPS points, and Marine area NZTM GPS points described as:

Road Reserve – Western extent of inland boundary of Road Reserve where it meets NZTM GPS point E1222711 to eastern extent of inland boundary of Road Reserve where it meets NZTM GPS point N4792334; Marine area NZTM GPS points E1222711, N4792841; E1223581, N4792841; E1223581, N4792334.
