✨ Maritime and Securities Notices
NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE, No. 146 — 4 DECEMBER 2014
Parts 23, 24C, 40B and 42A.
The purpose of the amendments is to ensure that the Maritime Rules reflect changes to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) adopted via the tacit acceptance procedure.
These amendments are adopted via the tacit acceptance procedure. This assumes that an amendment to SOLAS, once adopted by the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO’s) Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) or Assembly, will enter into force on a specified date, unless the requisite number of states object to the amendment. The amendments are straightforward, technical in nature, remove redundant provisions and incorporate existing international requirements.
Comments are invited on the above proposed maritime rules developed under the Maritime Transport Act 1994.
