Notice of Intention to Take Land for Pedestrian Accessway Purposes—333–335 Heretaunga Street West, Hastings District
Notice is hereby given that the Hastings District Council, under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take the land at 333–335 Heretaunga Street West, Hastings, described in the Schedule to this notice.
The land is required for the purpose of creating a pedestrian accessway between Queen Street West carpark and Heretaunga Street West, Hastings.
The intended taking is considered reasonably necessary to meet the council’s objective to provide good quality local infrastructure in a way that is most cost-effective for households and businesses by creating a pedestrian accessway between the council’s Queen Street West carpark and Hastings’ retail core on Heretaunga Street in order to achieve the following in a cost-effective manner:
- Meeting current and future needs of the community by ensuring that car parking facilities are safe, accessible and convenient;
- Facilitating a vibrant retail environment; and
- Maximising the use of an existing car parking facility.
