Targeted Research Investment Mechanism

  1. Specific policy objectives—(1) Targeted Research is designed to support purpose-driven research, science, or technology, and related activities aligned with national priorities that generate economic, environmental or social benefits for New Zealand. To increase the impact of the national science portfolio, knowledge transfer is an important part of such programmes of research, science, or technology, or related activities.

(2) Targeted Research addresses New Zealand’s strategic needs, challenges and opportunities.

  1. Specific assessment criteria—A proposal for Targeted Research funding that has been assessed as meeting the eligibility criteria for Science-led contestable funding must be assessed against the following specific assessment criteria, which are all weighted equally:

Student Allowance Transfer Grant Amendment 2014

Pursuant to section 124(1)(d) of the Social Security Act 1964, the Minister for Social Development makes the following instrument.


Instrument

1 Title—This instrument is the Student Allowance Transfer Grant Amendment 2014.

2 Commencement—This instrument comes into force on the day after it is made.

3 Principal programme—This instrument amends the Student Allowance Transfer Grant Programme (as established and approved on 23 July 2002 February 1999)¹ (the principal programme).

4 Clause 4 amended (Interpretation)—In clause 4(1), insert in their appropriate alphabetical order:

“full-time course has the same meaning as in the Regulations

full-time student—
a. has the same meaning as in section 3(1) of the Act; and
b. includes a person who, during the period between the end of the portion of a full-time course during a calendar year and the start of the next portion during that same year, was enrolled in that portion of that course and who intends to continue study in the next portion of that course; and
c. also includes a person who, during the period between the end of a portion of a full-time course during a calendar year (portion A) and the start of a portion of a full-time course during that same year (portion B), was enrolled in portion A and who intends to enrol in portion B”.

5 Clause 6 amended (Transfer grants)—(1) In clause 6.1(e), replace "5 working days" with "28 days".
