16. The returning officer will not be eligible for election to Te Poari, and must not be a current Te Poari member or the tumuaki of the wharekura. The returning officer must have the trust of the wharekura community. The current Te Poari will engage the returning officer.

17. This notice shall come into force on the day after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Pursuant to clause 9(3A) of the Sixth Schedule to the Education Act 1989, and acting with authority delegated by the Minister of Education, I declare invalid the election for staff and parent representatives for the boards of trustees of Waitara Central School, Waitara; Otane School, Otane; Mt Albert School, Auckland; Green Bay Primary School, Auckland; Mayfield School, Canterbury, and the parent representatives for Te Akau ki Papamoa Primary School, Tauranga, require new elections to be held on 18 July 2013, and declare that the elected representatives who held office on the date of the invalid elections remain in office until the close of the day before the day on which the new trustees take office following the new elections.
